The hotel is of course owned by the outspoken Donald Trump, and fire officials have stated that the fire started around 4:30am Eastern Time. The blaze is also being described by officials as suspicious since it began on the hotel’s 47th floor.

One person has been rushed to hospital with smoke inhalation, and officials from the Fire Department of New York are still investigating the source of the blaze.

The FDNY officially stated that a 3-alarm fire began burning around 4:30 am and they are coordinating with the New York Police Department to close nearby streets to traffic, allowing access only to emergency vehicles.

There are no other reported injuries, and according to White House officials, the President, First Lady and Barron Trump who sometimes stay in the building were not present in the city.

Once the fire is contained, deeper investigations can begin as to its cause.
